SEN Teaching Assistant

Long-Term Teachers are working with a fantastic special school located just outside of the historic town of Taunton. Their aim is to support pupils' growth through a safe and supportive environment where learning becomes an enjoyable experience, embodying the trust's values of Excellence, Passion, Integrity, and Caring. In 2019, the school was the winner of the Positive Behaviour Support Award at the National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards.

Students at the school will have speech and language delay, impairments or disorder, along with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and/or moderate and severe learning difficulties. Your role as a Teaching Assistant will be to support both students and tutors, ensuring their learning needs are met with a positive attitude. You must show confidence and be an excellent role model to pupils, in addition to being flexible to follow instructions from peers.

About the role:

You will be offering general classroom and 1:1 support to students in Key Stage 3 and 4. This is a crucial part of their education as it is the transition into GCSE and further education, apprenticeships, college, etc. We are looking for a TA who is mature, confident, and passionate about providing the best possible support to students with special educational needs.

The hours of work will be 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, during term times. This is a full-time position, with an opportunity to progress into a permanent position in the school if you can demonstrate that you are an excellent addition to the team.
