Job Description:

A large and diverse comprehensive high school in the Ealing area seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Second in Charge of Religious Education for a full-time, permanent position commencing in April 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RE teacher to take on a significant leadership role within a supportive and inclusive department.

  • About the Role:
    • Support the Head of Religious Education in the strategic leadership and management of the RE department.
    • Assist in the development, implementation, and review of an engaging and relevant RE curriculum across all key stages, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of our student population.
    • Deputise for the Head of RE as required.
    • Lead and support a team of RE teachers, fostering collaboration and promoting high standards of teaching and learning.
    • Contribute to the planning and delivery of staff professional development within the RE department.
    • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning, and student progress within RE, implementing strategies for improvement.
    • Assist in the management of departmental resources.
    • Potentially lead on specific areas of the RE curriculum or extracurricular activities.
  • Ideal Candidate:
    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in Religious Education or Theology.
    • Significant experience teaching Religious Education at the secondary level across a range of key stages.
    • Proven experience of leadership responsibilities within an RE department, demonstrating impact on teaching and learning.
    • A strong understanding of the RE curriculum and effective pedagogical approaches for engaging a diverse student body.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • A passion for Religious Education and the ability to inspire both students and colleagues.
    • Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and ideally some experience of line management or mentoring.
    • A commitment to the values of inclusivity and diversity within RE.
