Job description

Second Chef - Care Home

Hours: 30 hours per week - Day shift

Salary: £12.32 per hour

Location: Bedlington, Northumberland, NE22 6LA

This position requires working alternate weekends, with a total of 30 hours across 3 days. The working hours are from 7am to 5:30pm.

Are you a qualified Chef looking to work with fresh seasonal food, with the opportunity to have more of a work-life balance and make what you do matter?

Working as a Second Chef at our client's care home, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well-balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. We are proud to deliver person-centred hospitality across all our services and look for warm, motivated and passionate chefs who are driven by quality.

NEED TO HAVE
  1. A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
  2. A good understanding of nutrition
  3. Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
  4. The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home
  5. Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus
  6. Good understanding of HACCP
NEED TO DO
  1. Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
  2. Assist Head Chef in menu development
  3. Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards
  4. Create a warm, efficient and fun environment
  5. Work within budget
  6. Complete regular audits
  7. Manage stock control
