Job Title: Scrum Master

Job Type & Duration: Contract - 1 year to start.

Pay Range: $80 - $110/Hr


Project Overview:

  • GTT Canada has a customer that is launching a systems transformation and technology stack modernization initiative over the next 12+ months.
  • As such, they are building a technology team to deliver this project that will include 4 full-stack developers, 2 product analysts, a data developer, and a scrum master.
  • The technology modernization program is underpinned with HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, Angular, MS Power BI, SQL Server and Python in an agile environment.
  • The systems that are being modernized support financial loans, leasing, financing and business advisory services.

Position Overview:

  • We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled SCRUM Master to join our team.
  • The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Agile principles and Scrum frameworks, combined with a proven track record of driving team performance and removing impediments that may hinder progress.
  • As a SCRUM Master, you will be responsible for facilitating Scrum ceremonies, supporting the development of innovative Agile processes, and ensuring that the team is empowered, collaborative, and focused on delivering high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reinforce Agile Practices: Encourage and ensure adherence to Agile and Scrum practices across teams to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies: Lead and facilitate key Scrum ceremonies (e.g., Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives).
  • Process Innovation: Define and implement innovative Agile processes that align with the needs of the team and organization.
  • Team Health & Collaboration: Foster a positive team environment, challenge the team to be self-organizing, and focus on the team's health and performance.
  • Remove Impediments: Identify, address, and remove any obstacles or impediments—be they strategic, organizational, or technical—that may prevent the Scrum team from progressing.
  • Protect the Team: Shield the team from both internal and external distractions, enabling them to focus on their work and deliver value.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with stakeholders, including Technology Enablement (IT) and other business units, to ensure alignment and smooth coordination.
  • Support Product Owner: Assist the Product Owner in maintaining the product backlog and ensuring that scope, commitments, and targets are well-understood by all team members.
  • Define "Done”: Ensure the team is clear on the definition of "done” for all deliverables and that the team consistently meets these expectations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Scrum: Proven experience working as a Scrum Master in an Agile environment, leading teams through the Scrum process.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or other relevant certifications: Certification from a recognized Scrum or Agile training body is required.

Nice to Have:

  • Background in Project Management: Previous experience in project management is a plus, particularly in delivering complex projects across cross-functional teams.

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization
