Job description

Location: Hyde, Tameside
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum (MPS/UPS)
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term (with permanent potential)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and ambitious Science Teacher to join a vibrant and well-resourced secondary school in Hyde. This school has a strong academic ethos, excellent leadership, and a strong focus on pupil wellbeing and attainment. It is an exciting time to join their Science department as they continue to develop their innovative curriculum and lab-based learning model.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Teach across all Science disciplines (KS3) and ideally specialise in Biology, Chemistry or Physics at KS4.
  2. Plan and deliver engaging lessons that combine theoretical knowledge with practical application.
  3. Inspire students to pursue careers in STEM and make Science accessible and exciting.
  4. Support students with exam preparation, coursework, and revision, ensuring high engagement and outcomes.
  5. Collaborate with technicians and department colleagues to organise lab equipment and ensure safe, high-quality practicals.
  6. Contribute to extra-curricular science clubs, careers events or trips to enhance student experience.

Candidate Profile:

  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and degree in a Science-related subject.
  2. A passion for Science education and commitment to fostering curiosity and independent thinking.
  3. Ability to differentiate lessons for students with varied attainment levels and learning needs.
  4. A calm, consistent teaching style with strong behaviour management.
  5. Open to applications from ECTs or experienced teachers – mentoring available for ECTs.
