Job description

A specialist secondary school near Nuneaton is looking for a dedicated Psychotherapist to join their team in enabling young people with an ASC diagnosis and associated needs (such as SEMH) to flourish in a safe, supportive learning environment.

This school combines an evidence-informed education framework with a nurturing and cooperative atmosphere to best support autistic pupils develop their creativity, confidence, and passion for learning. Each team member shares the goal of helping their pupils - aged 11-17 years old - to build their self-esteem, succeed in their social, emotional and educational skill development, and discover new aspirations to take with them into the future.

As a School Psychotherapist, you'll have a senior role in the planning, development and implementation of interventions for pupils throughout their school lives. You will assess for and plan tailored therapeutic approaches for pupils (often with needs in addition to ASC such as ADHD, anxiety, or a history of trauma), perform age-appropriate 1:1 and group-based psychological interventions in line with latest best practice, and work in collaboration with internal and external colleagues to optimise support for each child and their loved ones.

You'll also be able to take advantage of further learning and clinical development opportunities (including clinical supervision and peer support) as part of a well-rounded CPD pathway.

In doing so, you will help students to feel valued, build strong and lasting relationships, develop new knowledge and skills, and gain the confidence to challenge themselves and thrive.

This is a permanent, full-time role for a School Psychotherapist (Mon-Fri only).

Person Specification:

  1. (Essential) Accreditation as a Psychotherapist in a relevant specialism (e.g. Child and Adolescent / Family and Systemic)
  2. (Essential) Registration with a recognised UK psychotherapy regulatory body, such as the ACP, UKCP or BACP
  3. (Essential) Professional experience in paediatrics, to encompass psychological assessments and interventions for children and young people with SEN and a range of mental health needs
  4. (Essential) Professional experience in ecotherapy techniques
  5. (Essential) Evidence of professional leadership and development
