Job description

Senior Staff Nurse - Special School

Tripod Partners are looking for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join the Children's Services team in Sutton, London. This term-time only role involves leading a nursing team within a special school environment, delivering high-quality care to children and young people with complex health needs. The successful candidate will contribute to service leadership, clinical delivery, and multidisciplinary collaboration across education, health, and social care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver specialist nursing care to children with complex needs, including medication, gastrostomy, and tracheostomy management.
  2. Support and supervise a team of Band 5 Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.
  3. Coordinate care planning, safeguarding meetings, and annual educational reviews.
  4. Provide leadership and ensure adherence to clinical governance, infection control, and data security policies.

Position Details:
Location: Sutton, London
Duration: Ongoing, term-time only (39 weeks)
Hours: 3 days a week
Pay Rate: £27.19 per hour
Work Pattern: Monday, Thursday and Friday

Requirements:
  1. NMC registered Nurse (Adult, Child, or Learning Disability).
  2. Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience working with children.
  3. Experience supporting children with severe learning disabilities and complex health needs (desirable).
  4. Knowledge of specialist communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS, PODD).
  5. Strong clinical leadership and communication skills.
  6. Right to work in the UK.
