A fantastic school in Reading is looking to welcome a Chef to their team this term, to provide catering services for their students and staff on a term time basis!
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver meal and snack plans tailored to the dietary and sensory needs of young people
Ensure meals are varied, balanced, and cost-effective, while being enjoyable for the young people
Lead and motivate kitchen staff, fostering high performance and engagement
Communicate clearly regarding the ordering, preparation, and delivery of food
Maintain high standards of health, safety, food hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness
Manage inventory, stock rotation, and accurate record-keeping of food supplies
Oversee special functions or events as needed, including out-of-hours catering
Work closely with the Business Manager to ensure best practices are followed
Support and collaborate with education and support staff to build young people’s cooking skills
Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and health and safety standards
Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in kitchen management, ideally in a care or educational setting
Strong leadership and team management skills
Knowledge of dietary requirements, allergen awareness, and food safety standards
Ability to work under pressure and handle administrative duties effectively
Creativity in menu planning and cost management
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
