School Caretaker. Job in Royal Tunbridge Wells Education & Training Jobs

Caretaker – Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Tunbridge Wells
Salary: KR 5 (£24,040 – £25,002)
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Annual Leave: 27 days holiday

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-respected secondary school, who are looking for a Caretaker to join their facilities team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a reliable, self-motivated individual with experience in building maintenance and site management to take on a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and safety of the premises.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Carry out cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs to keep the premises in top condition
2. Ensure the safety and security of the site, including key holder responsibilities
3. Support with site safety, such as fire alarm checks and emergency procedures
4. Assist with porterage and distributing supplies across the premises
5. Maintain external areas, ensuring paths and grounds are safe and presentable
6. Adhere to Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH and fire safety protocols

Shift Patterns:

1. 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
2. 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
3. 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM (Shift patterns will rotate weekly, with a 30-minute lunch break)

Overtime opportunities are available and paid at the appropriate rate.

What We’re Looking For:

1. Experience in building maintenance and cleaning
2. Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations (COSHH, fire safety, etc.)
3. Strong time management and the ability to work independently
4. A practical, problem-solving approach to site management
