Job description

Scarsdale Veterinary Group is seeking a First Opinion Prep Veterinary Nurse to join our team and deliver top-tier veterinary care to our patients and their owners.

Unparalleled clinical development opportunities

As a First Opinion Prep Veterinary Nurse, you will play a vital role in our team, ensuring the highest standards of patient care while contributing to the smooth operation of our hospital. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to work across various areas, enabling you to develop your expertise in anaesthesia management, assisting with procedures and diagnostics, and planning and delivering inpatient care. You will also gain hands-on experience in imaging techniques, including X-rays, ultrasound, CT, and MRI, as well as laboratory diagnostics, ECGs, and blood pressure monitoring.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you'll have the chance to support and mentor student nurses and veterinary students, providing them with valuable practical experience. Your role as a mentor will be pivotal in shaping the next generation of veterinary professionals.

Furthermore, you will contribute to stock control, equipment maintenance, and repairs, helping to maintain the efficiency of our hospital operations. We also encourage continual professional development, supporting you in enhancing your skills and knowledge to advance in your career.

Work with cutting-edge facilities

Pride Veterinary Referrals is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced diagnostic tools to provide exceptional care for our patients. Our hospital boasts 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 theatres (with plans for expansion), a comprehensive imaging suite featuring CT, MRI, and digital X-ray, 3 ultrasound rooms, an endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool and treadmills, as well as dedicated chemo and radio-iodine treatment rooms. These outstanding facilities create an environment where gold-standard veterinary care thrives.

Our large, highly experienced team brings together a wealth of specialist knowledge, giving you access to a varied and advanced caseload that encourages the development of your clinical skills. While clinical excellence and top-tier patient care are at the heart of what we do, we also foster a supportive, friendly, and collaborative team culture.

What truly sets us apart is our commitment to your growth and development. Working alongside our highly trained, Specialist-led team, you'll have opportunities to enhance your skills and pursue your professional aspirations. Whether you're looking to obtain additional qualifications or expand your expertise in a dynamic hospital setting, we're here to support you every step of the way.

Applicant requirements

To succeed in this role, you must be a qualified RVN, ideally with at least 1 year of post-graduate experience, as some aspects of the role involve independent work. Whilst any experience in advanced diagnostic imaging or referral work is advantageous, we provide comprehensive training to support your success. Any additional qualifications, such as certificates, are advantageous, and you should be able to demonstrate clinical competence in standard nursing protocols.

Working pattern

This role averages 38 hours per week, spread across 4 weekdays and 1 in 6 weekends. Shift times vary between 8am-7pm.
