About the Role:
We are collaborating with a leading Central Government client to find an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer with SC clearance to join their team for a 12-month contract. Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will take on a leadership role, ensuring the smooth operation of essential IT infrastructure, with particular emphasis on Azure cloud services, device management, and security protocols. Your responsibilities will include:
- Intune Device Management:
- Lead Windows 11 migrations, develop and implement device management policies, and ensure compliance with best practices for security and application deployment.
- Troubleshoot and manage Windows environments across client and server systems.
- Collaborate with support teams to address and resolve endpoint issues efficiently.
- Infrastructure Management:
- Administer and optimize Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, RDS Farms).
- Oversee the management and renewal of certificates within the PKI infrastructure for secure communication.
- Networking:
- Support network troubleshooting and work closely with third-line teams and vendors to implement changes where needed.
- Security and Compliance:
- Ensure the implementation of security measures such as multi-factor authentication, encryption, and secure access controls.
- Regularly assess and address vulnerabilities using tools like Windows Defender, and ensure alignment with NCSC and other relevant standards.
- Collaboration and Mentoring:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering skill development and promoting knowledge-sharing within the team.
- Cloud Integration:
- Manage hybrid infrastructure, optimizing the integration between on-premise and cloud resources (specifically Azure).
- Implement security and management solutions for cloud-based services (Azure AD, Virtual Machines, backup solutions).
- Automation and Optimization:
- Automate infrastructure management using scripting tools like PowerShell and Terraform, continually refining processes for greater efficiency.
- Disaster Recovery and Continuity:
- Design and maintain disaster recovery plans, manage backup systems, and ensure business continuity for critical services.
- Performance Monitoring:
- Leverage tools like Azure Monitor to ensure high availability and optimal performance of IT systems, conducting regular reviews for capacity planning.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Create and maintain clear documentation on system architecture, configurations, and operational processes.
- Provide regular reports on system performance, compliance, and incident resolution to stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience:
- SC Clearance: Active SC clearance.
- Technical Expertise:
- Solid experience in managing infrastructure environments, particularly with Windows Server (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with Intune, including app packaging, device management, and security policy implementation.
- Familiarity with Azure services and cloud infrastructure management.
- Scripting & Automation: Experience with automation tools like PowerShell, Terraform, and scripting languages such as Python.
- Networking & Security: Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs) and security measures (encryption, MFA, endpoint protection).
- Disaster Recovery: Proven experience in designing backup and recovery solutions to maintain business continuity.
- Collaboration: Excellent teamwork and mentoring abilities, with the capacity to share expertise with junior engineers.
- Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving skills to quickly diagnose and resolve complex server and infrastructure issues.
Desirable:
- Experience with AWS or Google Cloud is a plus.
- Experience working in large-scale government/public sector environments.
