Job description

As a Sales Director, you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of our sales and commercial strategies selling into the charity and not-for-profit sectors. You will oversee a high-performing sales team, engage with senior decision-makers, and drive the growth of our product and service offerings. You will have a strong focus on relationship building, revenue generation, and market expansion, while ensuring the long-term success of our clients and alignment with our organisational values.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales Leadership: Lead, inspire, and manage the sales team to meet and exceed sales targets, focusing on driving new business and expanding existing accounts in the charity and not-for-profit sectors.
  2. Strategic Sales Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies that align with the company's commercial objectives and respond to the unique challenges of the charity and non-profit markets.
  3. Client Relationship Management: Cultivate long-term relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers within charitable organisations, foundations, and non-profits, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring client satisfaction.
  4. Revenue Growth: Take ownership of revenue generation, identifying opportunities for growth, upselling, and cross-selling to existing clients, while pursuing new business leads.
  5. Commercial Strategy: Work closely with the executive team to shape and refine the commercial strategy, ensuring that our solutions meet the evolving needs of the charity sector and align with market trends.
  6. Market Intelligence: Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and funding challenges in the charity and non-profit sectors to provide insights and adapt the sales approach.
  7. Team Development: Mentor and develop the sales team, ensuring they have the skills, tools, and support needed to succeed and grow within the sector.
  8. Performance Reporting: Oversee sales forecasts, track key metrics, and report on team performance, sales activities, and revenue achievements to senior leadership.

Ideal Candidate:

  1. Experience: Proven track record of success in sales leadership roles, with at least 5+ years selling into the charity, not-for-profit, or social impact sectors. Experience with commercial strategy and managing both sales and customer relationships is essential.
  2. Sales Expertise: Strong background in driving sales growth, securing high-value deals, and leading sales teams to achieve ambitious targets.
  3. Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of commercial strategy, pricing models, and financial management, with the ability to adapt to the unique needs of non-profits and charitable organisations.
  4. Relationship-Building Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including board members, executives, and senior decision-makers.
  5. Sector Knowledge: A deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the charity and not-for-profit sectors, including fundraising, regulatory issues, and the need for efficiency in resource management.
  6. Leadership: A dynamic, results-driven leader who can motivate and develop a high-performing team, with the ability to influence and drive change.
  7. Problem-Solving: Ability to think strategically and creatively to address complex client needs and deliver tailored solutions.
