Why This Role Matters

The position exists to perform customer focused retail tasks that support the daily operation of the store and the missional objectives of The Salvation Army. This will include the maximisation of sales and productivity to deliver surplus to support Corps activities. The thrift shop also exists as a valued mission expression of the ministry of The Salvation Army.

About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Sales Assistant for our Salvation Army Thrift Shops in a part-time capacity. This position is based out of Eaglehawk. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Grade profile General Retail level 3.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide exceptional customer service across various store areas (shop floor, fitting room, register).
2. Assist with marketing and promotional activities in-store.
3. Process donations and ensure proper stock levels and pricing on the shop floor.
4. Maintain store's visual standards and organize stock.
5. Assist with housekeeping tasks to ensure timely completion.
6. Follow TSA Work Health and Safety guidelines and report incidents via Solvsafety.
7. Ensure security for the site and personnel, ensuring compliance by all team members.
8. Follow store opening / closing procedures.
9. Adhere to secure cash handling and banking procedures.
10. Provide direction, coaching, and guidance to team members.
11. Report serious incidents following established procedures.
12. Follow all established work procedures.
13. Perform additional tasks as required by management.

About You

1. Relevant retail industry and / or customer service experience.
2. Demonstrated customer service experience working in a retail environment with an ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
3. Sound presentation and communication skills (both verbal and written) with an ability to interact with a variety of people.
4. Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
5. A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
6. A current and valid Working with Children’s Check.
7. A valid Victorian Driver's license.
