Job description

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated team-players to work on a sessional basis as salaried GPs in our same day emergency care teams. Positions are based in Bodmin Community Hospital and Camborne Redruth Hospital.

You will be working alongside and collaboratively with our clinical GP colleagues who work in the community hospital CATU's and Acute GP service as well as linking into the Virtual ward and Royal Cornwall Hospital.

We need individuals to work:

Weekday: 0900-1700 and 1030-1830

Applicants will be qualified GPs with primary care experience and a desire for innovation and to be part of the continuing evolution of new services. Training will be provided around the commencement of clinical duties, and this position offers a very generous CPD and annual leave package.

Main duties of the job

The GP role will be based in the same day emergency care clinic working alongside experienced frailty nurses and advanced clinical practitioners to assess patients with an urgent care need and to assess suitability to be cared for at home with the support of the virtual ward. The clinical space has full access to a range of point of care testing pathology, X-rays, CT scan and MRI with an ability to give a range of therapies.

You will provide a clinical review of patients and work collaboratively with an established multi-disciplinary team and senior nursing colleagues.

Keeping frailty patients closer to home where appropriate is a key NHSE aim and is transforming the management of patients outside an acute hospital setting. This is an exciting innovative area of practice but as such is subject to rapid test and learn cycles and is continually evolving. This will suit colleagues who thrive on the ability to affect changes in patient care and like to get involved in new clinical pathways and new ways of working.

About us

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
