Job description

We're excited to offer a salaried GP to join our team under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). The post is for 6 sessions per week and is initially a fixed term contract until 31st March 2026 with potential for extension and a possibility of a permanent post thereafter. To be eligible you must be a newly qualified GP and have qualified within 2 years.

Main duties of the job

Core responsibilities of the Salaried GP include:

  1. The delivery of highly effective medical care
  2. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  3. Effective management of long-term conditions
  4. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  5. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  6. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  7. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
About us

Based in Withington, we are in a highly sought-after area with a truly mixed demographic. We have a great location situated right between the city center, Manchester University, Didsbury, Chorlton and Manchester Airport.

Our current list size is around 10,400. We are a training practice in South Manchester with a supportive, enthusiastic team in a relaxed and encouraging working environment. Currently we have five partners and four salaried GPs. We also have a Practice Nurse and an Assistant Practitioner.

IT systems consist of Emis Web, Docman 10, and Lexacom. We do most of the usual enhanced services.

Job responsibilities

Patient Consultation:

  1. Assess and examine patients with a variety of health concerns.
  2. Take detailed patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and order diagnostic tests when required.
  3. Provide consultations for a range of conditions, including acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and preventive health issues.

Diagnosis & Treatment:

  1. Make accurate diagnoses and develop treatment plans, including prescribing medications and offering lifestyle advice.
  2. Ensure follow-up care for ongoing medical conditions and post-treatment monitoring.

Care Planning:

  1. Create and maintain personalised care plans for patients with chronic conditions or long-term illnesses.
  2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the patient receives comprehensive care.

Health Promotion:

  1. Educate patients on disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and the management of medical conditions.
  2. Promote immunizations, screenings, and other preventive services in line with public health initiatives.

Documentation & Record Keeping:

  1. Accurately document patient consultations, treatments, and outcomes in electronic health records (EHR).
  2. Maintain up-to-date patient records in compliance with regulatory and professional standards.

Collaboration:

  1. Work alongside other healthcare professionals (nurses, physiotherapists, specialists, etc.) in delivering patient care.
  2. Participate in regular team meetings to discuss patient progress and care strategies.

Clinical Leadership & Development:

  1. Stay informed of current medical best practices and guidelines.
  2. Participate in professional development opportunities, including continued medical education (CME) and training.

Compliance:

  1. Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
  2. Adhere to safeguarding policies and patient confidentiality guidelines.

Administration & Meetings:

  1. Complete necessary administrative tasks, including referral letters and reports.
  2. Attend and contribute to practice meetings, patient reviews, and audits as required.
