Job description

We are a friendly, advanced training practice with 4 partners, 6 salaried GPs, GP trainees, 5 Advanced Clinical practitioners, medical students, pharmacists and an excellent nursing and administrative team.

We would require the successful applicant to work a Monday and Friday, the other working day is negotiable.

Main duties of the job

As well as delivering the best clinical care to our patient cohort, training the next generation of NHS clinicians is a focus for the practice and as such we are able to provide a supportive environment that fosters teamwork and promotes success.

The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

In accordance with the Practice timetable, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, home visits, telephone/video consultations and dealing with queries, paperwork, and reports.

About us

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic GP to join our team. Northgate Surgery is a friendly and supportive working environment. The Practice has a patient population of 15,600 and is still growing. The Practice is based in the centre of Pontefract and had a large refurb in 2021. Parking is available on site.

We are a training practice and we play an active role in our local PCN and have excellent clinical, admin and management support teams to support the right individual in the role.

Job responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Undertake all the duties associated with the role of a General Practitioner required by the GMS contract including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and paperwork.
  2. Comply with all the objectives of the GMS Contract.
  3. Support and contribute to the development of Practice clinical procedures and protocols.
  4. Accurate and timely input of patient data onto the clinical system.
  5. Carrying out clinical audit as appropriate.
  6. Completion of reports for solicitors, insurance companies, DVLA and others.
  7. Liaise with other health care professionals when required.
  8. Act in a way that protects the confidentiality of patients and maintains the integrity of the patient/Practice relationship.
  9. Take an active role and contribute to Practice meetings.
  10. Support the development and compliance of the Practice Health and Safety policy.
  11. Participate in the GP appraisal scheme.
  12. Attend Practice training sessions whenever possible.
  13. Maintain medical currency in line with your Personal Development Plan.
  14. Contribute to the development and improvement of the Practice.
  15. Work safely at all times in accordance with Legislative requirements and Practice Policy and Procedures.
