An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join a newly formed team, Safer Roads for West Midlands who deliver national driver education courses as an alternative to prosecution, improving road safety and reducing casualties on our roads. The team works within West Midlands Police as a distinct part of the Operations department.

About the Role

As Safer Roads for West Midlands Team Supervisor, you will be reporting to the Safer Roads Operations Manager whereby you will not only deliver NDORS training to customers referred through the scheme, contributing to our aim of improving road safety throughout the West Midlands, but also supporting the maintenance of the Force's UKROEd licence. You will be required to implement strategic plans for the delivery of all NDORS courses; supporting the Safer Roads Operations Manager in this vision.

  • Implement strategic plans for the delivery of NDORS courses.
  • Support the maintenance of the Force's UKROEd license.
  • Support/lead the delivery of NDORS educational courses (either virtual or venue based courses).
  • Maintain partnerships with regional and national organisations to enhance course offerings.
  • Assist in developing a hybrid approach to training delivery using full-time employees and other provision methods to meet course delivery requirements.
  • Supervise a team of professionals to ensure high standards of training and compliance with UKROEd requirements.
  • Oversee administrative processes, ensuring robust auditing and performance tracking.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to ensure continuous service delivery.
  • Implement a quality assurance process to ensure all training materials and delivery methods meet licensing requirements, legislation, and best practices.
  • Manage day-to-day budgets and resources effectively to maximise service delivery.
  • Investigate complaints related to staff, course location, content, and delivery. Take action to mitigate future complaints and maintain standards. Report complaints to the Operations Manager promptly.
  • Deliver internal learning events for staff, focusing on new legislation and amendments to secure the renewal of UKROEd licences. Assess all trainers regularly and venues monthly to ensure compliance with UKROEd standards.
  • Represent the organisation at operational meetings and forums related to driver offender education in the absence of the Manager. Maintain a flexible solution to support the needs of a diverse customer base and ensure compliance with GDPR in record-keeping.

Essential:

  • Must be able to show a sound legal knowledge relating to legislation in respect of Road Traffic Law particularly relating to speed, red light and other endorsable road traffic offences.
  • Must hold a UKROEd license for the delivery of one or more NDORS courses.
  • Experience of supervising or assessing trainers within an organisation.
  • Demonstrate experience supervising diverse teams in a complex and changing environment within a Learning and Development arena.
  • Able to demonstrate a personal commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in line with force values.
  • Prepared to travel and hold a full driving licence.
  • Awareness in equality and diversity and have a high level of personal integrity.

Desirable:

  • Level 4 or higher teaching or a learning & development qualification as a minimum or demonstrate ability and willingness to attain this qualification (if qualification not already held, must be willing to undertake and successfully complete).
  • A recognised assessor qualification or demonstrate significant experience and ability to assess individuals.

Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
