The Lancashire SAFE Centre has a newly created role in a centre coordinator and crisis worker to support the quality manager and centre manager to help run the daily activity of the centre and work towards achieving forensic science regulator (FSR) UKAS accreditation by 2nd October 2025.
The centre is a niche specialism that provides forensic examination to those patients who have sadly experienced sexual assault and/or rape. The service provides cover 24/7, 365 days a year via on-call crisis workers and sexual offence examiners to the population of Lancashire and South Cumbria.
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and driven individual to join us to work alongside the centre manager, quality manager, matron, and clinical director as well as liaising with Lancashire Constabulary, Victim Services, safeguarding, the police and crime commissioner, and NHS England to deliver this high-quality service.
You will be reporting to the SAFE Centre Manager. The SAFE Centre Co-Ordinator and Crisis Worker will be responsible for assisting the Centre Manager in the day-to-day running of the SAFE Centre.
Note: As part of the requirement for this role, you must be willing to submit a DNA sample for storage on the staff elimination database for purposes of exclusion from investigation only.
Reporting to the SAFE Centre Manager, you will be required to train to hold the role of crisis worker, supporting any cases during the core hours of the service where there may be rota gaps and non-recent cases.
You will work alongside a forensic examiner and run the monthly paediatric GUM clinic and all associated GUM administration work. In addition, undertake all of the welfare calls offered to all patients who attend the SAFE Centre as a follow-up within 2 weeks of attendance, ensuring that the patient’s well-being is at the heart of the call.
You will assist the Centre Manager and Practice Development in the recruitment and training of crisis workers, providing ongoing CPD development and portfolios of evidence.
You will also assist the work of the centre Quality Manager in achieving and maintaining the UKAS accreditation.
There is a potential to be required to work until 19:00 (approximately 1-2 times per week) at some points in order to support the daytime crisis worker rota. This will be discussed in more depth at the interview.
Interested applicants are advised to contact the centre prior to applying. Please note, it may not be possible to facilitate a physical visit/look around the department given the nature of the centre and the cases that may be in the unit at the time.
