We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to join AD&M’s Ruggedized Fiber Optics (RFO) group. This role focuses on developing optical and optoelectronic products across industries such as telecom/datacom, oil and gas, industrial, military, and broadcast. Reporting to the RFO Engineering Manager (UK), this position is based at TE Connectivity’s Swindon location in a onsite work model.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop fiber optic connectors, termini, and cable assemblies.
  2. Support fiber optic interconnect systems and collaborate with manufacturing teams.
  3. Create and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  4. Modify and update drawings using SolidWorks, CREO, and ZWCAD.
  5. Manage product extensions, cost analysis, and SAP data updates.
  6. Develop and oversee design verification test (DVT) and qualification test plans.
  7. Assist in prototype development, testing, and risk analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA).
What are we looking for

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Experience in fiber optic or rugged fiber optic connector and termini development.
  2. 5-8 years of experience in design and new product development.
  3. Proficiency in SolidWorks, CREO, and AutoCAD.
  4. Understanding of manufacturing processes and tolerance analysis.
  5. Strong skills in MS Office applications.
