Job description

The Community Liaison / Special Projects Coordinator will contribute planning, organizational skills, and assessment to assist in the fulfillment of workplan goals of the Corporation for National and Community Service grant; ensure compliance with all aspects of Healthy Futures Focus Area.

Responsibilities

  • Review regularly RSVP Worcester “Policies and Procedures” and RSVP Handbook
  • Arrange staff and/or volunteer appearances on local media as requested by Project Director
  • Create surveys for measuring “Outcomes” of primary focus area work plans
  • Provide Project Director with grant-required data for progress reports
  • Aid in recruitment of new volunteers for these programs and be their key contact person in RSVP.
  • Monitor closely the number of unduplicated RSVP volunteers in the primary focus area to ensure that project is meeting grant targets – except for those workplans coordinated by the Volunteer Engagement Counselor, including: Community Harvest, Audio Journal, Elder Service’s “Meals on Wheels”, Rachel’s Table, Jeremiah’s Inn, Notre Dame & Jewish Health’s hospice.
  • Schedule special events as needed to meet the grant requirements and with the approval of the Project Director
  • Assume role and responsibilities of “Senior Fraud HelpLine Coordinator” (under role as Special Projects Coordinator and included in Primary Focus Area work plans)
  • Develop a “call center roster” of trained volunteers and work with each to schedule shifts in the call center, using Excel and Doodle or other tools
  • Open the Fraud HelpLine call center daily and act as the point person for the call center, engaging volunteers and making sure their needs are met; while completing other work, be available to “on duty” volunteers who have questions or concerns
  • Review call center “intake” forms immediately at the end of each shift to make sure that any urgent need has been addressed & track and record information provided on the “intake” form
  • Alert the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office as necessary when frauds or scams are “trending” in communities
  • Provide coverage for the RSVP offices from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
  • Initiate contact with Project Director to discuss call center coverage well in advance when planning an absence due to specific appointments, meetings or other events
  • Ensure that a “closed due to driving conditions” outgoing message is uploaded to the toll-free HelpLine # when a weather advisory is broadcast during winter months
  • Listen to all Senior Fraud HelpLine voice messages upon arrival at work and before volunteers arrive for their shift
  • Coordinate “Fraud Squad Players” touring dates for Spring and Fall
  • Coordinate “Polar Express” touring dates for Winter
  • Write weekly copy for RSVP’s spot on cable access Community News
  • Make phone calls to volunteers on the birthday of each to sing “Happy Birthday”

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred, supplemented by related employment history. Must be able to lift and move, and transport multiple units of 20 lbs. Computer skills necessary, especially Microsoft Word. Basic use of Excel and Outreach required. Public speaking ability a plus; excellent interpersonal skills a must. Experience scheduling programs and in creating a roster of volunteers for each project is desired; experience working with various media preferred.
