Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for an ROV Tooling Mechanical Design Engineer. Based in Aberdeen, the role is on a permanent, full–time basis.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design specialist tooling to support projects, leading development of solutions, designing layouts, working with the drawing office, checking all drawings and BOM, and overseeing procurement, fabrication, and testing.
  2. Specify specialist ROV tooling from third parties as required.
  3. Create operation and maintenance manuals for in–house new build tooling.
  4. Maintain awareness of current requirements and the latest industry codes and standards.
  5. Occasionally work offsite or offshore as required.
  6. Review the project installation procedures to ensure practicality from an ROV operations point of view.
  7. Determine ROV tooling requirements to support all ROV operations.
  8. Assist commercial departments during bid preparation from an ROV tooling and interfaces point of view.
  9. Compliance with company health, safety, quality, and environmental policies.

Requirements:

  1. Completed engineering studies at a University or College level or possess equivalent experience.
  2. Strong knowledge of offshore operations, in particular subsea construction and remote intervention.
  3. Up to date with industry standards, including ISO and API–17H.
  4. Knowledgeable in theory, design, and operation of tooling systems.
  5. Efficient in Microsoft Office programs, MathCAD, and AutoCAD (2D or 3D).
  6. Basic hydraulics knowledge in order to design a suitable control circuit for any required ROV tooling.
  7. Ability to work without supervision, coordinate varied resources, actively contribute, and possess problem–solving skills.
  8. Efficient communication skills at all levels and be confident in supervising other disciplines, such as the drawing office and workshop personnel.

Desirable Experience:

  1. Hold current offshore OEUK medical and survival certification.
