We are excited to offer a full-time dietetic post within Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) to join our mental health and eating disorder band 5 rotation. You will have the opportunity to develop your dietetic skills and build experience in the different mental health and eating disorder services included below with the potential for expansion to other areas in the future.
You will work with service users to not only improve their nutrition, but to also encourage behaviour change to empower service users to make positive changes that will improve their mental health, physical health, and overall quality of life. You will provide high quality, evidence-based dietetic assessments and deliver staff and service user training.
You will be joining an innovative and growing dietetic community of Dietitians, Dietetic Associate Practitioners, and Dietetic Assistants. You will gain a wealth of experience not just from your dietetic colleagues but the wider MDT and most importantly our service users presenting with needs such as disordered eating; eating disorders; diabetes; weight management, malnutrition, and re-feeding syndrome.
Healthy Living Service
The Healthy Living Service is a team of Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Healthy Living Advisors who offer support to help service users improve their physical health. As a Dietitian within the team, you will work in an inpatient setting (The Mount, The Becklin Centre, and The Newsam Centre) offering individual consultations to service users as well as support and advice to staff teams through the MDT. You will be supported by the Clinical Lead Dietitian and Specialist Mental Health Dietitians.
Link-ED Adult Eating Disorder Service
The Link-ED Adult Eating Disorder Service, across West Yorkshire has recently been given the opportunity to grow our MDT which has enabled this opportunity to support a band 5 dietitian within the team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Dietitian (Band 7) within the service. The role will include the following:
As a service we support service users who have disordered eating secondary to their primary mental health issue, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder. We are a small team of Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, and Peer Support Workers.
The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. Applicants should be aware that any individual requiring a visa to work in the UK, the Trust provides sponsorship for registered healthcare practitioner roles only (this does not include Healthcare Support Workers). This is an essential requirement, and the Trust is unable to offer you a role if you do not meet Trust requirements for sponsorship and Home Office requirements for a visa.
The trust has an established management and clinical support structure including a 12-month preceptorship programme (for all new graduate nurses and AHPs), regular clinical and management supervision, monthly trust-wide dietetic meetings, and access to peer support and other development opportunities. We work closely with Leeds Beckett University delivering student placements A, B, and C. As an organisation, we are keen to support research and development activities.
All team members have access to full remote technology (phones and laptops) to support smart ways of working. LYPFT services are adaptive in safely and effectively meeting the needs of our service users and carers.
The post holder must be a qualified dietitian with HCPC registration (or in the process of obtaining).
A car driver is desirable, but not essential. The eating disorder post covers West Yorkshire and travel may be required across this area at times.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
