Rotational Dietitian

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust
Bristol
GBP 30,000 - 40,000
Job description

If you are a newly qualified HCPC registered dietitian looking to kickstart your dietetic career, then we have the perfect opportunity for you. We are recruiting a band 5 rotational dietitian to join our busy dietetic team in one of the South West's largest teaching hospitals. The successful applicant will work alongside experienced and expert colleagues delivering a wide range of nutritional interventions across our specialist pathways.

There really has never been a more exciting time to join us! The dietetic team plays an integral role in UHBW providing tertiary and regional services to pathways including intestinal failure, cystic fibrosis, oesophago-gastric and hepatobiliary surgery, ECMO, head and neck cancer, and bone marrow transplant.

This post sits within UHBW’s adult Nutrition and Dietetic Service, comprising approximately 60 dietitians and dietetic support workers. This post is based in the Bristol Royal Infirmary, a city centre hospital in the heart of one of the country's most vibrant cities.

This vacancy is for a band 5 rotational post which will primarily support our surgical pathways. Our rotational programme moves band 5 dietitians through our cardiology, respiratory, surgery, and stroke pathways with each rotation lasting 12 months.

Our band 5 positions typically cover a range of medical, surgical, and rehabilitation wards. The majority of the caseload will be inpatient-facing, but outpatient services may also be provided to general clinic, MDT lipid clinic, and cardiac rehab depending on the current rotation.

You will benefit from working alongside specialist dietitians with expertise in a range of specialties including gastroenterology, diabetes, critical care, surgery, and oncology. You will also gain experience in supporting food policy initiatives, promoting MUST screening, and you will have opportunities to deliver training and education to patients and healthcare staff.

We have developed competencies for band 5 dietitians to ensure you feel supported throughout your development. Additionally, you will have access to regular clinical supervision with opportunities to complete continued professional development.

The department offers training to A, B, and C placement students from the University of Plymouth. Once you have completed appropriate supervisory skills training and are settled in your role, you will be involved in the clinical teaching and assessment of students on placement.

In modern healthcare, a flexible workforce is essential. The dietetic department provides a service on Saturday, which you will contribute to once every 8 weeks with a corresponding day off in the working week. We also provide a bank holiday service, with each member of staff covering 2 bank holiday dates a year.

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, bringing together a combined workforce of over 13,000 staff and over 100 different clinical services across 10 different sites, serving a core population of more than 500,000 people across South West England. UHBW has been rated by the CQC as ‘Good’ overall, and our staff are proud to deliver excellent care to the people of Bristol, Weston, and beyond. As a forward-thinking multi-award-winning Trust and a digital exemplar committed to improving patient care, our world-leading research and innovations are having a positive local and global impact. Our hospitals are spread across Bristol and Weston; join us and you can enjoy the very best of both worlds: city living within a stone’s throw of the countryside or beside the seaside, both with easy access to all that the South West has to offer. UHBW is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. As an equal opportunities employer actively working towards a diverse workforce, we aim to recruit and retain a workforce that represents the rich diversity of the local population at all levels and are committed to designing our services around the needs of individual patients and those around them. Anonymous information will be used from your application in order to ensure we’re meeting our pledge.
