Road and Sea Freight Import/Export Specialist Overview

We are seeking an experienced Road and Sea Freight Import and Export Specialist within the freight forwarding industry to join our team at a privately owned freight company based in Weston Super Mare. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in freight forwarding operations, with a strong understanding of road freight and sea freight operations, groupage, FCL, LCL, and customs brokerage processes for import and export.

Road and Sea Freight Import/Export Specialist Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage import and export operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Arrange and track road freight and sea freight, groupage, FCL, and LCL shipments.
  • Oversee customs clearance and ensure proper documentation for both import and export processes.
  • Communicate with international clients and suppliers to facilitate the smooth transportation of goods.
  • Handle any issues related to import and export logistics and provide timely solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and market trends to optimise import and export processes.

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in import and export operations, preferably in a freight forwarding environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of road freight and sea freight operations, groupage, FCL, LCL, and customs procedures.
  • Strong understanding of import and export regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with international partners.
  • Proficient in relevant software and systems for tracking and managing import and export shipments.
  • Certification in import/export customs regulations and procedures is a plus.
  • Knowledge of international trade.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient import and export processes.
  • Communicate with international partners to track and manage shipments.
  • Stay informed about changes in import and export regulations and adjust processes accordingly.
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues on customs and import/export documentation.
  • Analyse import and export data to identify opportunities for optimisation and cost savings.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by providing timely and accurate information on import and export logistics.
