Risk & Compliance Officer

We're looking for a Risk & Compliance Officer to join us at Smith Partnership, a forward-thinking, leading law firm in the Midlands, employing around 200 staff across 5 offices.

As Risk & Compliance Officer, your duties will include:

1. Working closely with the firm's COLP, COFA, MLRO and MLCO to ensure the firm maintains appropriate levels of compliance to include SRA, GDPR, AML and cyber security.
2. Keeping up to date with the latest regulatory changes and ensuring the firm remains compliant.
3. Monitoring and updating all non-HR related policies and procedures.
4. Ensuring all new and existing staff adhere to those policies and encourage compliance awareness.
5. Monitoring any compliance breaches and maintaining registers.
6. Reviewing and analysing risk management data including complaints, claims, file reviews, client feedback, conflicts and breaches.
7. Creating a positive culture of compliance across the firm.
8. Ensuring compliance with Lexcel and assisting with the annual re-accreditation process.
9. Managing all external audits and compliance reviews.

What we are looking for in a Risk & Compliance Officer:

1. Previous experience in a compliance role within an SRA regulated environment.
2. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
3. Ability to influence stakeholders and colleagues.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
