As part of this Industrial Placement, you’ll develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to inform your career choices and contribute to the development and improvement of Nationwide’s processes, products and services in your department.
Our 12-month placement gives you a valuable first look at what it’s like to work here, with real responsibility and accountability. We’re looking for undergraduates to join our Chief Controls Office Placement where you will spend time working across the Society’s internal control and process frameworks. You’ll have the opportunity to assess whether controls protect the Society for the range of financial and non-financial risks faced, including Market and Credit risk, Economic Crime risks, and evolving Technology/Security risks such as Cyber. You will also look at how our teams ensure that our customers receive the right outcomes.
We’ll need you to build rewarding relationships across the organisation, and externally, to understand customer needs, resolve problems and support the delivery of the Society blueprint. You’ll receive upfront training with a focus on specific core skills and individual projects. You will also receive soft skills training to ensure you develop a rounded skillset. You will receive an individual learning pathway when you join your teams to ensure you are able to continuously develop your skills and will receive broad exposure to Nationwide’s risk framework. You’ll also attend development workshops and complete a project with other Industrial Placements aligned to our Social Impact strategy.

During your CCO Industrial Placement you’ll spend time in each of our portfolio areas, developing your understanding of the risks Nationwide faces, how our processes and controls help us manage these risks within our appetite, how to design an effective control and how to assess control frameworks across Nationwide.
You’ll be using your communication skills to provide insight to senior leaders and to build strong and lasting working relationships. You’ll be a quick learner, inquisitive, always focused on solutions and have the tenacity to bring them to life.
You’ll gain access to a bespoke 12-month project aligned to our Social Impact strategy to develop core business skills, providing opportunities to learn new skills and apply them in a different context to your day job. You’ll build a community and work alongside a range of diverse like-minded Industrial Placements from across the organisation.
