Job description

Overview

EFL Teachers are responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons following the ANGLO syllabus. ANGLO sessions promote the communicative approach with emphasis on speaking and listening skills. An overview of the role follows:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that meet the needs of ANGLO teenage students
  • Work closely with colleagues in the teaching team to deliver the ANGLO experience
  • Embrace the communicative approach to language teaching and create an engaging, inclusive learning environment in language lessons, excursion lessons and project lessons.
Your role & responsibilities

  • Liaising with the Teaching Manager and/or WTS with regards to all relevant teaching and student matters
  • Teaching levels and course types as directed by the TM/WTS, and to plan all classes sufficiently and mark students’ work
  • Selecting appropriate supplementary materials demonstrating sensitivity to the students’ needs and cultural backgrounds
  • Completing a weekly scheme of work
  • Completing attendance registers accurately and to report any absence or sickness to the TM/ATM at the beginning of each lesson
  • Being familiar with, and following guidelines outlined in the Teacher Manual
  • Attending and participating in teacher briefings, meetings and CPD sessions as and when required
  • Ensuring students are prepared for presentations, excursions, and cultural visits
  • Responding to any issues, incidents and or complaints in an appropriate and timely manner; ensuring that the Teaching Manager is informed as required
  • Exploiting every opportunity for students to learn English both inside and outside the classroom
  • Creating a positive learning environment which is well organised and supports the introduction of British culture as part of the curriculum
  • Providing students with adequate feedback on their work
  • Accurately completing the students’ weekly academic reports
  • Following ANGLO’s safeguarding and welfare policies at all times
  • Demonstrating a high level of professionalism at all times
Requirements

Essential (Please do not apply if you do not meet these requirements)

  • You have the right to work in the UK
  • University degree + TEFLI qualification or equivalent experience (e.g.: CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, PGCE, 120 hour TEFL course)
  • Native or near-native English fluency
  • Dynamic teaching approach
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team player attitude
  • Commitment to high-quality customer service, displaying a positive “can-do” attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure, strong work ethic and ability to implement change
  • Committed to continuing professional development
Desirable

  • Prior experience of teaching U18s
  • Young Learners teaching qualification
  • Summer school experience
  • Experience of project-based courses and/or task-based learning
  • Experience of Trinity GESE exams
ANGLO is committed to implementing Safeguarding and Prevent policies and guidelines. All successful applicants will be required to take online certification in-line with ANGLO policies and procedures.

All ANGLO staff are required to have enhanced DBS clearance to begin work.

Benefits

HOURS: 60 - 64 hours per 13 or 14-night student programme, based on programme requirements. No overtime payment unless agreed with Head Office.

No Saturday or Sunday work.

One 8 hour paid induction on-campus.

On some occasions we have to offer 13/14-night 48 hour programmes, in which case hours and remuneration are halved. We will always let you know if this happens.

REMUNERATION: Residential Teachers: £ 961.56 - £ 1,025.66 per student programme including holiday pay.

Non-Residential Teachers: £ 1,089.32 - £ 1,161.94 per student programme including holiday pay.

CONTRACT: Temporary, fixed term.

PREPARATION: Induction before the start of classes. Comprehensive training provided on arrival. Continued on-the-job support given.
