Retail Services Director - The Excel

£90,000 per annum

ABOUT ERS - ExCeL Retail Services

ExCeL Retail services is a partnership between the ExCeL London & Levy where we want to create an attendee & destination retail proposition at ExCeL London for the delivery of a unique and world class food and drink offer.

Our key aims are:

  1. To deliver a diverse, accessible and affordable service offer of the highest quality that reflects the ExCeL's brand by being genuinely creative, relevant and resonant.
  2. To deliver a range of high-quality food and drink offers at sufficient capacity to meet the expectations of ExCeL's broad range of services.
  3. To deliver a distinctive and unique food and drink offer that creates the ExCeL as a leading destination for food and drink in the exhibition and entertainment space.
  4. Grow the financial return from retail food and drink in accordance with the 5 year growth plan.
  5. Deliver the above in accordance with ERS values, including:
    1. Staff diversity - ERS Food & Drink staff to be at least as diverse as the population of London, with the aim to achieve the diversity of that within the borough Newham.
    2. Environmental sustainability - aim for Net Zero food and drink operations by 2027 inline with Levy commitment.
    3. Accessibility- ensure ERS Food and Drink offers provide value for money, delivers to a range of price points and aims to meet the needs of customers with access requirements.
    4. To develop a new robust and sustainable business model which can provide a strong platform for the next ten years delivering an increased profit contribution.

ERS (ExCeL Retail Services) COMPRISES:

  • 24 boulevard retail units - broad range of branded and unbranded retail offerings.
  • Bridge Restaurant - 140 seated restaurant.
  • Frictionless store - Automated shop with over 200 SKU's.
  • In-Hall Retail Activities - as required retail offering which includes - coffee shops, street food and bars.
  • Immerse London - London's newest immersive zone will have a newly developed range of retail services.
  • High street coffee brand.
  • High end street food and bar.
  • Small plates & wine bar.
  • Destination restaurant offer.

The total operation generated an annual turnover of circa £20 million. The aim is to grow this revenue and resulting net profit over the next 5 years. ExCeL and Immerse London will attract an annual audience of over 5.5m to attend events & experiences.

THE ROLE

A high-profile opportunity for a dynamic, senior and inspirational retail professional, experienced in delivery across multi-site retail and event spaces, ideally with experience working with external food & drink providers. To lead and inspire a team of Department Heads and their teams to deliver exceptional retail and guest experience thereby optimising sales and profitability, in line with ERS values, and, underpinned by a structured approach with an appropriate focus on compliance with relevant company policies, standards and employment principles.

Reporting to the ERS Board and through close liaison with key stakeholders, you will be directly responsible for the key result areas below (amongst other general responsibilities). As a member of the ELH (ExCeL London Hospitality) Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will be expected to contribute to the strategic development and sound management of the organization in collaboration with other SLT (Senior Leadership Team) members.
