RESTAURANT & BAR MANAGER

RESTAURANT & BAR MANAGER required for our client - a hotel in the Dartford, Kent area. Transport will be required due to location and shift work.

As RESTAURANT & BAR MANAGER you will be responsible for the restaurant and two small private dining rooms, together with the restaurant terrace during the warmer months. You will manage a full-time team to deliver outstanding standards of service. We are seeking someone with a passion for food, wine, and service who will inspire and drive standards to even higher heights.

The restaurant is open to residents and non-residents, catering for a wide range of discerning clients with many regular patrons. The restaurant seats 100 guests, and you can expect to service 30-75 covers for dinner and between 40-80 covers for afternoon tea - with the busiest days at the weekend.

Service for guests covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days per week, so candidates must be available for flexible shift patterns across 5 days, including weekends.

The team to support you consists of a permanent team of employees, including an Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager, 2 F&B Supervisors, and a team of permanent and casual Food & Beverage Assistants.

Main Duties for the role of RESTAURANT & BAR MANAGER include:

1. Ensuring the restaurant is prepared for service and employees are briefed for service.
2. Meeting and greeting guests and being their host during their meal, ensuring close liaison between bar and restaurant for a smooth transition from bar to dining experience.
3. Taking guest orders.
4. Effective rostering of employees.
5. Coaching employees to develop their skills and ensure service standards are met.
6. Serving food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages and wines.
7. Completing satisfaction checks and acting on all feedback.
8. Adhering to the Mystery Guest Standards and ensuring the team achieves the required standard.
9. Resolving any service issues.
10. Presenting bills to guests and taking payment, ensuring the till is balanced and cashed up accurately, and room charges are transferred to residents' room accounts.
11. Ensuring the restaurant is reset at the end of the shift ready for the next service.
12. Ensuring the work area is clean and tidy before closing.
13. Working with the Executive Chef to develop the menus.
14. Ensuring effective ordering and control systems are in place to ensure availability of products to guests while controlling stock holding levels.
15. Selecting and sourcing wines to complement the menu items and guests' requirements.
16. Recruitment, induction, training, and coaching of all employees.

Requirements for the role of RESTAURANT & BAR MANAGER include:

1. Smart appearance.
2. Excellent communication skills with a passion for guest service.
3. Technical food and beverage knowledge to offer the required service and the ability to develop the rest of the team.
4. Management/Supervisory experience within a top-quality food service hotel/restaurant required.
5. Ability to manage and motivate a team of waiters/esses and bar staff to ensure excellence.
6. Must have your own transport due to the semi-rural location.

Salary for the role of RESTAURANT & BAR MANAGER is given as £32,000 to £35,000 per annum (plus a monthly service charge payment). In addition, other company benefits are available. Transport will be required due to location.
