The Resource Room Teacher implements and maintains special education programs and services per federal and state administrative rules while aligning with the districts policies. The Resource Room Teacher assumes professional responsibility for providing specialized learning experiences and supervision of students with individual learning needs in a supportive and positive climate that develops in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet curriculum standards.
Specialized Education:
Special education: 3 years (Preferred).
Valid Michigan teaching certificate (or equivalent) with a special education endorsement in autism, cognitive impairment, emotional impairment, learning disabilities, physical education for students with disabilities, physical or other health impairment, speech/language impairment, and/or visual impairment.
Skills and Abilities:
Write and participate in METs, REEDs, and IEPs.
Maintain a caseload with no more than 23 students.
Review student evaluations (i.e., IEP, BIP/FBA, MDR etc.), and other pertinent records in conjunction with Individual Educational Plan / Evaluation Review Team Meetings.
Collaborate with MTSS Coordinator, building administrators, teachers, parents, and outside agencies to convey information and provide curriculum support.
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift 15 pounds to carry, push and/or pull items.
Hear and speak to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
Reach above shoulders to file materials.
The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people.
The ability to travel to other buildings within the district is required.
