An established industry player is seeking dedicated individuals to join their residential care team. Working as part of a residential care team, you will be responsible for the delivery of care to young people, consistent with the Department's policies and procedures in relation to children and young people in residential care.
Applicants should be child-centred with the ability to manage challenging and stressful situations, demonstrate empathy for the concerns of others, and adapt easily to changes at work. A knowledge of Residential Child Care tasks is essential, as is the ability to work using your own initiative, communicate effectively with both young people and adults, and have the capacity to write reports and represent the department at hearings.
It is essential that you hold or have the capacity to achieve a SVQ 3 in Care and a HNC in Social Care or equivalent or qualification at or above SCQF level 7 that includes social policy, sociology and psychology. Qualifications at level 8 (SCQF) or above, approved for this grade of post by the SSSC are also acceptable.
An understanding of the needs and difficulties of young people is essential, as is the ability to work shifts. You must be registered with the SSSC or willing to achieve registration within 6 months of taking up the post. Night shift residential workers receive a third enhancement due to working unsociable hours.
