Job description

Job Overview:

We are seeking compassionate and experienced Residential Children's Support Workers to provide high-quality care and support for a young person requiring 3:1 support within a residential setting.This role involves ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of children with complex needs, working closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day emotional and practical support to children in care.
Implement and follow individual care plans tailored to the child's needs.
Assist with daily routines, including meal preparation, personal care, and recreational activities.
Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring the child's well-being at all times.
Support the child in developing life skills and independence through structured activities.
Implement positive behaviour management techniques, including de-escalation strategies.
Complete detailed reports and keep accurate records of observations and interventions.
Work collaboratively with social workers, therapists, and healthcare professionals.
Adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures to protect vulnerable children.

Essential Requirements:

Minimum 6 months experience in a residential childcare or similar support role.
Restraint training certification (CPI, PMVA, MAPA, or equivalent) is essential.
Understanding of trauma-informed care and safeguarding procedures.
Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A caring, patient, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Driver preferred but not essential.

Desirable:

NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People Workforce or equivalent.
Experience working with children with challenging behaviours, autism, or emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
First Aid certification.
