Research Scientist- Histology

Job Description

SRG are looking for an immediately available Scientist with hands on Histology experience to join a global research organisation on a 3 month contract with an immediate start.

Due to the nature of the role, you must be able to commute to the Edinburgh area and have right to work in the UK.

The Role:

• To provide high quality histology services to ensure timely and correct preparation of disease diagnostic and research samples, including data entry into LIMS database.
• To perform the regular daily, weekly and monthly maintenance and replenishment of specialist equipment within the laboratory.
• To perform the regular, daily, weekly and monthly monitoring and recording of the equipment performance to ensure compliance with the QA standards.
• To support the development of immunohistochemical based methods for the diagnosis of infectious and other diseases and localisation of antigens to support research
• To support the development of Digital Pathology capacity by producing high-quality digital whole slide images.
• To play a role in supporting Institute infrastructure initiatives.

Requirements:

• Hands on histology experience using a range of techniques and methods
• Veterinary experience would be advantageous but is not essential
• Ready to start ASAP
• Local to the area and can commute to site near Edinburgh
