Research Nurse / Clinical Research Officer

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised individual with an interest in research to provide clinical trial support to the Research and Innovation team based at the Trust's research site at Cheadle Hospital, Stoke on Trent.

The role supports research across a range of physical health specialties, including vaccines and long-term conditions, and will involve working on our research bus.

Main duties of the job

You will support the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data, including collection and management of samples. You must be able to travel across the Trust geography, including working on our mobile research unit.

Job responsibilities

  • You will undertake clinical assessments and interventions according to the protocol provided for the study being delivered.
  • You will progress towards working autonomously in all areas of practice relating to clinical research, developing the ability to assist in the planning and management of the portfolio of clinical research studies, with the support of the senior team.
  • You will read and process research protocols, patient information and GP letters and ensure that information about clinical trials is clearly and appropriately communicated to research participants.
  • You will ensure that all study documents are kept up to date, version-controlled and appropriately stored; also ensuring all data queries and audit actions are followed up and completed in a reasonable timescale.
  • You will assist with the evaluation of patient eligibility for entry to clinical studies by co-ordinating pre-study tests, obtaining results and arranging appropriate appointments according to the study protocol. You will assist with ensuring that subsequent study specific investigations are undertaken as required by the protocol.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse / Health Professional or educated to degree level.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

Experience

  • Experience or interest in research.
