Job description

Research Manager
Center for Education Market Dynamics

The Center for Education Market Dynamics (CEMD) is on a mission to improve academic outcomes for underserved students by expanding access to high-quality teaching and learning solutions. As a leading nonprofit in K–12 market intelligence, we believe that better data leads to better decisions—and ultimately, better opportunities for students.

At CEMD, we work to equip education leaders with the insights they need to make informed, strategic choices about curriculum and instructional materials. We serve as a trusted hub for K–12 education data, making complex information accessible, actionable, and impactful.

We do this by:

  1. Developing a comprehensive K–12 dataset to track curriculum selection trends across districts.
  2. Sharing insights for the public good to inform policy and decision-making.
  3. Providing tools and services that help districts and education leaders take strategic, data-driven actions on behalf of students.

We are a passionate and collaborative team that values curiosity, action, and impact. If you're excited about the power of data to shape the future of education, we'd love to have you join us!

The Research Manager brings their experiences in K-12 education to play a key role in shaping how we turn data into insight, ensuring our work drives impact in the education market. This role leads research projects from start to finish—defining scope, managing execution, and ensuring high-quality deliverables that align with our mission.

What You’ll Do

Research & Insight Development

  1. Lead the transformation of data and information into market-driven insights, ensuring market context is at the forefront.
  2. Translate direction and vision from leadership into actionable, high-impact deliverables.
  3. Bring fresh ideas; in partnership with Data Analyst, elevate new insights and make recommendations for research and analysis.
  4. Contribute to the development and refinement of data collection and analysis processes. Champion a continuous improvement mindset—applying lessons learned from each project to drive greater efficiency and impact in future work.

Strategic Project Management

  1. Lead research and impact initiatives that align with our organizational goals; develop and deliver impact-driven materials, such as reports, webinars, presentations, and thought leadership pieces.
  2. Define project scope, schedule, and resourcing, making sure we’re set up for success from day one.
  3. Serve as the full-cycle project lead, starting with project inception and driving to market delivery, keeping work on time, on budget, and aligned with organizational quality standards.
  4. Develop and implement systems, processes, and tools that improve cross-functional team coordination and efficiency.
  5. Work closely with both internal and external partners to drive projects toward meaningful outcomes.
  6. Present research findings via webinars, panels, and stakeholder meetings, helping to strengthen relationships and expand influence.

Partner & Stakeholder Collaboration

  1. Build understanding with partners and clients; listen to the needs, understand market problems, and deliver proposed solutions.
  2. Support CEMD leadership in defining and refining data use cases; bring new ideas to the table.

What We’re Looking For

  1. A persistent driver who is not just executing research but actively shaping how it creates impact.
  2. A proactive self-starter who can take initiative and drive projects forward without requiring extensive direction.
  3. A strategic thinker who can balance and refine short-term objectives and long-term goals.
  4. A strong communicator who can translate complex research into accessible insights.
  5. A collaborative partner who thrives in a cross-functional environment.
  6. A creative problem-solver who can adapt solutions in a dynamic, evolving organizational context.
  7. A curious learner who wants to take their knowledge of K-12 curriculum products to the next level.

What You Can Expect

  1. A motivated, dedicated team that cares about improving education and public data to drive better outcomes for students, especially those in underserved communities.
  2. A highly-collaborative environment with opportunities to learn from and with others across a range of expertise and backgrounds.
  3. A flexible work culture that is human-centered and supports your growth.
  4. Opportunities to engage and collaborate with leaders at leading nonprofits, foundations, and organizations driving impactful work in education.
