ENGINEERING - UNREAL ENGINE
What We Do

Unreal-powered projects have been on the bleeding edge of real-time entertainment for over 20 years. Our team of engineering experts are always innovating to improve the tools and technology that empower content developers worldwide.

What You'll Do

The MetaHuman team at Epic Games is looking for a research engineer in the field of neural rendering. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for digital humans and experience in the fields of computer graphics, computer vision, geometry processing, and machine learning. You will develop and apply algorithms in the domain of neural rendering, differentiable rendering, and image-to-image translation to build and render the next generation of digital humans. We have developed one of the world's best face and body 3D and 4D scanners and have the team and toolsets for creating extremely precise datasets. If you are looking to push the state-of-the-art using the best data out there and would like to help us cross the uncanny valley, we'd like to hear from you!

In this role, you will
  1. Be part of the MetaHuman R&D team proving out new technologies to raise the bar of real-time digital humans and characters in Unreal Engine
  2. Work directly with a team of researchers, artists, and engineers to learn all aspects of the character creation process from scanning and performance capture to animation and rendering
  3. Help identify points of friction in our processes and research new techniques to automate and improve the realism of the art team's work
  4. Research and develop prototypes to prove brand-new approaches for capturing and rendering digital humans
  5. Stay well-informed on the latest research on neural rendering and digital character technologies
What we're looking for
  1. Experience with computer graphics and computer vision techniques
  2. Understanding of mathematical optimization and modern machine learning concepts
  3. Experience with neural/differentiable rendering techniques and/or image-to-image translation
  4. MSc/Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent
  5. Strong programming skills in Python and C++ and experience with PyTorch or similar machine learning frameworks
This role is open to multiple locations in Europe (excluding CA, NY, & WA).
