About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join Research and Impact Services (R&IS), a collegiate, vibrant and dynamic department that provides a vital contribution in supporting Warwick’s internationally leading research endeavours. R&IS is seeking a Research Development Officer, to provide pro-active support across research grants and contracts to world-class researchers within the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Medicine, with a particular focus on support for Mathematics and Statistics.

The role will provide expert support to research-active staff to develop competitive grant applications, deliver a proactive programme of research development support, and manage research contracts. This shall include, for example, delivery of funding workshops, one-to-one support to academics on the development of multi-disciplinary research proposals, identifying funding opportunities, and providing advice and guidance to academics on potential routes for their research. Responsibilities also include negotiation of contractual terms and conditions, cost and price calculations, and guidance regarding Intellectual Property, ethics and governance, as well as the internal approval of applications and awards.

About You

Successful candidates will have a good honours degree, or equivalent, and previous experience of working in a research environment, preferably within Higher Education or a research funding agency. Experience of working in industrial/government research is also welcomed.

You will be a highly motivated, committed team member who can demonstrate an ability to work flexibly and accurately under pressure, often to tight deadlines. Prior experience of working with academic departments will be highly advantageous.

The academic departments at Warwick have a highly collaborative approach to research. You should therefore have a proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including key administrators in other departments, external funders, and institutions, representing the University’s interests at all times, and have a good track record in building productive relationships.
