About Us

The School of Life Course & Population Sciences is one of six Schools that make up the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London. The School unites over 400 experts in women and children’s health, diabetes, nutritional sciences, population health and the molecular genetics of human disease. Our research links the causes of common health problems to life’s landmark stages, treating life, disease, and healthcare as a continuum. We are interdisciplinary by nature and this innovative approach works: 91 per cent of our research submitted to the Subjects Allied to Medicine (Pharmacy, Nutritional Sciences and Women's Health cluster) for REF 2014 was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. We use this expertise to teach the next generation of health professionals and research scientists. Based across King’s Denmark Hill, Guy’s, St Thomas’ and Waterloo campuses, our academic programme of teaching, research and clinical practice is embedded across six Departments.


About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Research Associate in Population Health Management to work closely between King’s Population Health Institute and King’s Health Partners on population health initiatives across South East London. This role will involve conducting research, analysing healthcare data, and contributing to the design and implementation of evidence-based strategies to improve health outcomes at the population level. The ideal candidate will have expertise in population health research, health data analytics, and population health strategies.

This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 16th May 2028.


About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:


Essential Criteria

  1. PhD (or equivalent research experience) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Population Health, or a related field
  2. Experience in analysing NHS data, population health research, health data analysis, or healthcare service evaluation
  3. Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, Python) and/or data visualisation tools
  4. Strong understanding of health inequalities, social determinants of health, and integrated care systems
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  6. Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, actively addressing areas of potential bias
  7. Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.

Desirable Criteria

  1. Experience working with healthcare and policy organisations
  2. Knowledge of NHS structures, healthcare commissioning, and regional health policy
  3. Familiarity with GIS mapping, health informatics, or digital health analytics
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
