Job description

Role:

The Worboys lab is looking for an outstanding candidate to undertake research activities focused on understanding the molecular function of immune checkpoint receptors and their blockade. This project will focus on how nanoscopic localisation of checkpoints dictates their function and ability to regulate. The candidate must have extensive expertise in cell biology, with a particular expertise in using high-end microscopy. Ideal candidates will have intimate knowledge of single-molecule localisation microscopy and/or cell signalling.

The candidate would be expected to work alongside the PI to conceptualise and design experiments and to work towards the publication of their findings in high-impact journals. The candidate would also be expected to contribute significantly to other projects ongoing in the lab, to work seamlessly as a team supporting other research associates, postgraduate and undergraduate trainees. The candidate will also be required to engage positively with collaborators both within the institute and at external organisations.

The successful candidate would be expected to be curious, passionate, engaging and highly motivated. The post would be full time (1 FTE) for 3 years, with the possibility to extend.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers
