We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant or Research Associate to investigate the genetic basis of life-threatening infections in children, as part of an NIHR BRC-funded programme. Based in the Section of Paediatric Infectious Disease, this role involves laboratory research on human genetics, immunology, and infection biology, utilizing molecular, biochemical, and cellular approaches. The successful candidate will contribute to groundbreaking research on conditions such as viral encephalitis, severe COVID-19, and MIS-C, working with patient samples to uncover novel genetic determinants of infectious disease susceptibility.
We are looking for you to provide essential technical support in human genomics and immunology research. This role involves handling and processing clinical samples, maintaining accurate records, and managing sample databases. The successful candidate will perform DNA/RNA/protein extractions, cell culture, functional assays, and infection studies to investigate immune responses. You will also liaise with international collaborators, contribute to data analysis, and assist in publishing research findings. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic research team working on cutting-edge infectious disease studies.
