Job description

We are looking for ambitious and enthusiastic Research Assistant to work on an Alzheimer’s Society funded project.

The job responsibilities are to conduct and deliver the qualitative component of a multiphasic research programme aimed at developing computer systems to optimise medications for people living with dementia. The successful candidate appointed to this role will dedicate their time to conduct focus groups and/or qualitative interviews with people living with dementia, formal/informal carers and stakeholders (general practitioners, nurses and care home managers). The qualitative element of the research programme will make use of an experience-based co-design, where public and patient involvement and stakeholder engagement are key to the development of the computer-system. As a consequence, the research assistant will play a vital role in setting up research activities and collecting, analysing and disseminating the patient and public involvement and Engagement (PPIE) findings to the computer science team and contribute to the development of the computer system acting as a consumer/patient advocate.

You will hold a Masters in a Health, Research, Medical, Psychology or Social Sciences relevant subject; or be currently enrolled on a Doctoral Programme. The successful candidate will also have some experience of contributing to research using systematic/scoping review, qualitative or data analysis methodologies.

You will be based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work. You will be able to agree a pattern of remote working with your line manager; however, you will also be required to attend and conduct occasional research activities in the geographical areas of Oxford, Hampshire and Manchester.

The position is offered part-time at 0.72 FTE and fixed-term until 28 February 2026.
