Job description

About Schroders
We're a global investment manager. We help institutions, intermediaries and individuals around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.

We have around 6,000 people on six continents. And we've been around for over 200 years, but keep adapting as society and technology changes. What doesn't change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society, prosper.

The base
We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.

The Team
The team consists of nine analysts, whose main responsibility is to recommend stocks within their sectors to a range of equity portfolio managers across the Pan-European and Global Equities investment desks. This is a centralised Pan-European equity research team, where collaboration with equity portfolio managers is central to its success, and where entrepreneurialism and engagement with other investment divisions such as Credit and Multi Asset is actively encouraged.

The analysts are incentivised to think like portfolio managers, be creative and continuously search for core investment opportunities in companies that are undervalued by the market and that have competitive advantages which can compound consistently over time. Research analysts are responsible for the detailed research, rating and monitoring of individual stocks in their universe.

Effective communication of this work to portfolio managers is intended to support the construction of a range of Pan-European and Global Equity portfolios. Research analysts are also expected to contribute to the team's model portfolio, leveraging detailed bottom-up industry and company specific knowledge along with a variety of risk, and systematic models. The team also plays a leading role in AI-related innovation, seeking to develop new AI models that can be integrated into investment practice to augment our analytical capabilities.

What you'll do
As a research analyst you will be required to deliver fundamental research on companies within the Pan-European Technology sector creating proprietary financial models and research notes. As part of your research you will organise and conduct meetings with CEOs and other senior company representatives. The majority of your time as an analyst will be dedicated to entrepreneurial new idea generation, monitoring, and supporting PMs in the review of existing investments.

Prior to recommending a stock, you will be expected to generate independent forecasts on the key drivers of the business and present your research to your peers and colleagues. Your analysis will be subject to rigorous scrutiny by fund managers and global sector analysts. You will be assessed based on the quality and conviction of your research, the effectiveness of your recommendations and the impact you have on our core investment stakeholders. Your recommendations will be ranked within the sector and your performance measured against it.

You will also be required to engage in the team process where collaboration, development and continuous improvement are essential aspects of the culture. This includes regular team meetings, presentations to fund managers and sector-specific networking and knowledge sharing events designed to leverage the expertise across the full spectrum of investment divisions, including private assets.
