At DC Thomson we are a business with a purpose - to make a positive impact on the communities we serve. Deeply rooted in our communities, we are investing in data, technology, and talent to unlock a new level of understanding about what really matters to our customers. This is how we are shaping the future of media.

Energy Voice (a DC Thomson brand) is expanding its Editorial team with a role for a talented and self-starting Reporter. Energy Voice provides frontline energy news and views to over 2 million energy industry professionals each year. For over 25 years it has been the eyes and ears of the North Sea energy community. Energy Voice is now the first word for entire UK energy spectrum, ensuring our readers are in the know and equipped to succeed.
With energy at the heart of the national conversation - raising questions on future resource, jobs and economics amid climate and geopolitical crises - this position will provide a talented journalist with the opportunity to break exclusives and deliver key analysis in multiple formats. Our news platforms, podcasts and events have never been more crucial in helping leaders understand the key factors driving the influencing the future of UK energy.
We are seeking a self-starting Reporter with a nose for a story and experience producing original, high-quality journalism for online and/or print, ideally within business, energy or industry sectors. A keen interest in the energy transition, regional economies and infrastructure is a must.
You will be responsible for producing breaking news and progressive, insightful and audience-led content to serve and grow our subscriber base, joining a growing Editorial team spanning the UK. The role requires the successful candidate to be based in or near one of the following regions: the North West, North East, Yorkshire and the Humber, or Teesside. A strong network plus a deep understanding of the local patch, its communities and industries, and the stories that matter to them, is essential.
It's an exciting time for you to join us here at Energy Voice as we continuously build a substantial digital subscriber base and continue to serve our loyal print readership via our monthly supplement.
To apply for this role, please follow our online application process and submit a CV and cover letter.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working 35 hours per week. Whilst you will be primarily working in the field as a boots-on-the-ground Reporter, you will be assigned a DC Thomson office location nearest to your patch to serve as your base. This is not a home-working role as regular on-the-ground reporting and in-person newsgathering are central to this position. We offer a generous package including 34 days holiday, Health Cash Plan, Onsite Staff Gym, excellent Pension, a competitive salary, and many more staff discounts and benefits.
We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage applications from everyone and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability or any other protected characteristics.
