Job description

Central is currently recruiting for part time Rent Accountant, to work remotely. You will be responsible for setting up and updating all property and resident accounts on the rental ledger system.


The successful candidate will be required to work 15 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM (days of working are flexible). Temporary cover is required for approximately 2-3 months. The pay rate is £13.62 per hour, with £2.05 holiday pay, totalling £15.67 per hour.


Please note: this is a remote working role with the option to work from the head office in London or Manchester. Company equipment will be provided.


Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that the information held on the rental income system (OMNI) is up to date and accurate, including setting up/terminating accounts, and recording vacant properties.
  2. Ensure that the information per the weekly occupancy returns agree to the rental income system (OMNI), and investigate any differences and update the system as necessary.
  3. Review the rental income bank account and accurately reflect all receipts onto the rental income system and Finance system on a timely basis.
  4. Identify any overpayments and request the necessary refunds to be processed.
  5. Produce and send out the monthly rent arrears and voids report to the accommodation projects.
  6. Process the monthly rent write offs, as instructed by the Rental Income Business Partner.
  7. Reconcile and close monthly accounts in accordance with the month end timetable.
  8. Remain up to date and familiar with all aspects of the OMNI rent accounting system, including software updates.
  9. Raise rental income sales invoices on a timely basis and proactively follow up on late payments.
  10. Work closely with project staff and housing benefit departments regarding rental income queries.
  11. Stand in for the Rental Income Business Partner in their absence.
  12. Co-operate in the annual rent setting process as required.
  13. Demonstrate a commitment to client involvement by advocating client involvement opportunities.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Good knowledge of rental income accounting and processes e.g. housing benefits.
  2. Essential: Experience of rental income accounting systems, including OMNI.
  3. Good Excel skills, as well as other Microsoft Office packages.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  5. The ability to work independently, using initiative and applying sound decision making skills.
  6. The ability to work under pressure and effectively manage stress.
  7. Commitment to promoting an environment, which has the highest regard for the Health and Safety of others.

Further Requirements:

  1. Current valid right to work in the UK.
  2. Minimum 12 months' of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise).
  3. A fully enhanced DBS registered on the DBS update service or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60).
  4. Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process.
