Key Responsibilities
- As a Reliability and Test Methodology Engineer in Powertrain you will be responsible for developing component specific design verification and validation test methods on new electrified propulsion systems.
- You will enhance our test plans, creating efficient tests tailored to excite specific mechanisms of failure for new cutting-edge automotive technology. You will be supporting the reliability engineering chapter strategy.
- Participate in product design process to understand product features, functions and lifecycle events to plan for reliability assessment.
- The ability to work with a broad range of specialists and projects and to be able to put complex ideas across to senior engineers is therefore desirable.
- Perform lifecycle assessment and provide recommendations to design team to achieve life cycle targets.
- Develop standard methods, trainings and methodologies and ensure implementation within organization for competence development. Share lessons learnt and develop best practice guidelines.
- You will also be encouraged to share knowledge and have a motivation to teach and develop others.
- The role requires both a technically curious and short-term practical approach; the ideal candidate will have a desire for personal and shared in depth understanding but also be able to focus on short term delivery priorities.
- Perform FMEA with design team to help create robust design.
Skills Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Degree or similar qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related subject.
- To be successful in this role it is essential to have a strong background in product development and experience component / system design and verification / validation.
- An understanding of quality tools and in particular Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) and Design for Reliability (DfR) methods and principles is advantageous.
- Familiarity with and experience in failure mode analysis with ability to problem solve and effectively communicate findings at different business levels.
- Knowledge of reliability engineering and statistical analysis.
- Working knowledge of data visualisation tools and techniques (for example MS Excel, Reliasoft, etc).
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with the design, operation and environment of Automotive Electrification.
- Design for Reliability (DfR) techniques.
- DFMEA, DRBFM, Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Able to communicate effectively, work flexibly in a multi-disciplinary team and on own initiative.
- Experience of working in AGILE.
- Minimum 3 days per week travel to Office location / s.
Product Development Experience in 1 or more of the following background is :
- Transmission & Driveline (eMachines)
- Thermal Systems (Cooling, Lubrication)
- Power Electronics (Inverter)
- Mechanical
- Castings or Frames
