About Regulatory & Compliance and the Role

The Regulatory and Compliance team's primary focus is to ensure product formulation, specification, labeling and website compliance for all THG Nutrition and Beauty brands globally. THG owns and operates many leading brands including LookFantastic.com, Grow Gorgeous, Mio Skincare, ESPA and MyProtein.

THG is looking to recruit a Regulatory & Nutrition Officer with an excellent understanding of food / food supplement labeling regulations for UK/EU markets, to join our Regulatory & Compliance Team. The role reports into the Senior Regulatory Officer.

With a focus on brand protection, the Regulatory & Compliance Team plays a critical role in ensuring that our products can be marketed and sold legally all over the world. The role is based at our ICON Head Office near Manchester Airport and offers the opportunity to contribute to the global success of THG and our market-leading brands.

Responsibilities:

  • Initial focus on a key business priority re-branding project for the Nutrition Division - Involvement in the migration of the brand-new look & feel of Nutrition Brands such as Myprotein, Myvegan and Myvitamins. Supporting from a Regulatory & Compliance position, ensuring legal compliance across specifications, labeling and the websites.
  • Reviewing labeling and marketing material to check that they are compliant with local regulatory requirements.
  • Advising on nutrition and health claims, ensuring they are correctly worded on product labeling and websites.
  • Advising on established and emerging nutrition science from reputable sources with authority to allow Social Media and Content teams to communicate on relevant nutrition topics with external audiences.
  • Using nutrition science knowledge to establish Wellness brand guidelines on themes such as sleep, mental wellness and gut health. Feeding in regulatory pre-requisites to the product innovation process to ensure new products can communicate on nutrition themes and health claim territories.
  • Collecting and reviewing technical data for Nutrition projects.
  • Food supplement registration across EU Member States.
  • Assessing regulatory risk against commercial requirements and completing risk assessments as and when necessary.
  • Participate in Trade Association meetings, review communications, gather relevant data to help lobby for change as and when relevant.
  • Horizon scanning - follow upcoming regulatory challenges in the EU market based on changes in regulations and/or market trends.
  • Proactively identifying potential Regulatory / compliance issues and working together with the senior members of the team to reduce and/or eradicate their impact.
  • Working closely with New Product Development (NPD) on new formulations to ensure compliance in the UK and EU Member States for THG Nutrition Brands including Myprotein, Myvegan, Myvitamins & MyPro.
  • Reviewing company websites to check that content is compliant with country specific regulatory requirements.
  • Upkeep and maintenance of a comprehensive suite of applicable regulations and guidance.
  • Managing and taking accountability of own workload.
  • Establishing and maintaining a strong working relationship with key stakeholders (NPD, Marketing, Brand, Commercial teams etc).

Requirements:

  • Qualification in Food Technology, Food Law, Nutrition, Food Science, Food Safety or other related subject.
  • Ideally 2-3 years' experience within a relevant Compliance/ Regulatory or specification role within the food industry, ideally with experience in the food supplements category.
  • Excellent understanding of regulations regarding Food / Food Supplements and usage of claims in the EU (including UK)
  • Great attention to detail, strong communication skills, excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate across different departments e.g. NPD, Brand, Marketing, SQA, QA, Packaging Artwork etc to ensure business needs are met.
  • Good understanding of nutrition science and wellness trends is desirable.
  • Good IT literacy - (Email, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and SharePoint).
  • Usage of product specification systems (especially Oracle Brand Compliance) would be desirable but not essential.
