Thames Water are committed to improving our performance as part of our Turnaround plan. Maintaining good relationships with our regulators and championing an open and transparent approach to our performance is a key part of our plan; and this role plays a crucial part in ensuring our regulators are kept informed.

The Senior Regulatory Investigations Specialist is responsible for ensuring our investigation responses are of a high technical quality; interrogating data and presenting it in the best way to communicate our position. The role will ensure that all relevant information is collated to give a complete view of performance.

You will work with colleagues in the Regulatory Investigations team to successfully plan and deliver responses to requests for information, and will build relationships with teams across the business with a primary initial focus on colleagues in Asset, Operations and Capital Delivery.

This is a high profile part of the business. The role will support the Regulatory Investigations Manager in updating senior internal stakeholders; and building successful relationships with our Regulators such as Ofwat, the Environment Agency and the Drinking Water Inspectorate.

What you will be doing as Regulatory Investigations Advisor - Technical & Data

Owning Regulatory Requests for Information

Taking ownership of requests for information, planning the response and engaging relevant technical teams to input and review the response. Liaising with relevant business units to gather documentation and data in response to formal requests from regulators as part of new and ongoing regulatory investigations.

Input into strategic response to regulatory investigations

Supporting the Regulatory Investigations Manager with executing the strategic response to regulatory investigations, identifying mitigating actions to reduce the corporate risk of penalty. Lead key workstreams within wider investigations.

Data interrogation and presentation

Using extensive knowledge and experience to review and assure data from internal stakeholders, interpreting it and presenting it in the best way to communicate to non-technical audiences if necessary.

Developing processes

Support colleagues in the Regulatory Investigations team to develop processes to ensure consistency of approach.

Internal Engagement

Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to promote recognition and understanding of regulatory issues within the business. Use data to proactively identify potential areas of compliance risk and work with relevant stakeholders to mitigate.
