Join our Policy and Regulation team and play a key role in navigating the changing energy landscape. As a Regulatory Affairs Officer, you'll monitor industry trends, analyse their impact, and help shape Good Energy's response to new regulations. This fixed term opportunity will run from mid-March to November 2025.


Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and analyse regulatory developments: Track proposed reforms and future developments, particularly from Ofgem, DESNZ, and code administrators, and communicate key implications to the business.
  • Assess business impact and develop solutions: Collaborate with internal teams to understand the impact of reforms, identify risks and opportunities, and support commercial solutions.
  • Shape and communicate Good Energy's position: Advise stakeholders on emerging policy issues, develop company responses to consultations, and represent Good Energy's views at industry forums.
  • Support internal understanding and compliance: Contribute to research, engage with trade associations, and support the compliance team in embedding regulatory changes.

What you'll need to succeed

We’re looking for someone who is a proactive team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative. They should be comfortable navigating complex topics and clearly articulating company positions externally. A high level of personal integrity and a collaborative approach are essential, as is the ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally. The successful candidate will be a quick learner, capable of grasping detailed information while maintaining a strategic perspective. They should be comfortable working in a hybrid environment with occasional travel (mostly to London), be willing to appropriately challenge senior colleagues and defend their views, and thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.


Essentials:
  • Energy sector knowledge: Familiarity with the energy industry, key stakeholders, and relevant organisations.
  • Analytical and communication skills: Ability to interpret complex issues, extract key points, and communicate them clearly and concisely, both in writing and presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration and organisational skills: Proven ability to gather information from stakeholders, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and build strong working relationships.
  • Technical proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Regulatory expertise: Experience in energy policy and regulation, with up-to-date knowledge of the regulatory environment and the ability to interpret proposed changes.
  • Commercial acumen: Demonstrated ability to translate regulatory changes into business requirements and commercial priorities.
  • Relevant qualifications: A post-graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Politics, Energy Policy, Economics).
  • Specialised energy policy knowledge: Expertise in specific areas of energy policy, such as retail regulations, microgeneration, or low-carbon heating.
