Registered Nurse Associate

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered Nurse Associate to join the Warrington Children and Young People's Mental health Service. The post holder will work as part of a team to promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of children and young people with mental health and wellbeing difficulties which could also include those with complex needs.

The service provides support to children, young people and their families within a progressive universal model of service delivery dependent on assessed need. The service offers every child/family a programme of screening, reviews, mental health intervention and information, and guidance to support their mental health as part of THRIVE.

The present role at Warrington provides an opportunity to be part of a diverse MDT alongside nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, art therapy, drama therapy, CBT, Psychology and more.

Main duties of the job

1. Contribute to the provision of a high-quality child health service.
2. Work collaboratively within the team and with primary and community care colleagues to deliver local and national health objectives.
3. Work with the team to undertake workload planning and delegation of work to other team members, taking into account competency levels.
4. Undertake holistic assessments of children / young people and families in line with local and national guidelines.
5. Support the team to develop new ways of working to provide a responsive service to children and young people.
6. Support and empathise with children, young people and families in time of need.
7. Support the team to develop multi-agency partnerships and joint working to facilitate public health objectives in line with the Trust's objectives.
8. Work within a public health competency framework to address public health priorities and health inequalities.
9. Participate in the mentorship and assessment of a range of learners and in the preceptorship and support of new colleagues.
10. Maintain stock as required.

Job responsibilities

1. Attend mandatory training, core training and training that will enhance practice.
2. Provide clinical support and knowledge to new staff.
3. Act as an advocate and champion for children, young people and their families.
4. Undertake holistic assessments of children and families in line with local and national guidelines, to identify need.
5. Work within guidelines to identify and manage risk, reporting identified risks to the caseload holders.
6. Work with the caseload holders to develop individualised care plans to meet need, with the involvement and consent of children and young people, carers and other agencies as required.
7. Administer medicines in line with trust policies and procedures.
8. Use additional equipment the child / young person may require on a daily basis, or in an emergency.
9. Undertake or direct child health promotion reviews for the assessment of paediatric development in accordance with the Child Health Promotion programme and Trust guidelines.
10. Adhere to infection control policies, giving advice to other clinical and non-clinical staff, parents and carers regarding cross-infection and infection control.
11. Establish and maintain effective channels of communication to facilitate partnership working.
12. Participate in the health needs assessment of children and young people to identify areas of unmet need.
13. Work in collaboration with other agencies, according to Trust policy with regard to Safeguarding Children procedures.
14. Attend court proceedings and provide written reports when necessary.
15. Identify needs and prioritise work appropriately.
16. Maintain appropriate records and returns, both written and computerised.
17. Complete Routine Outcome Measures (ROMs) as part of clinical duties/work and ensure ROMs are reviewed as a regular part of both managerial and clinical supervision discussions.
