Job description

I am delighted to be working with a leading engineering and distribution business to help them recruit a site-based Regional HR Manager near Frome.

This position covers 12 sites across the Southwest with a total headcount of circa 200 people. My client is renowned in their industry for what they do and the service they provide; this is a great opportunity for an experienced HR generalist to head up the HR department and provide pragmatic and commercial advice to the business.

As the Regional HR Manager, you will report into the Managing Director and have management responsibility for an HR Assistant. This is a true generalist position with a blend of strategic and operational HR. You will ensure that the business complies with employment law and best practice, as well as providing advice and direction on the people strategy. A large part of the role is to support and lead on employee relation case work, ensuring you are providing informed, commercial, and solutions-focused HR support whilst also mitigating risk to the business.

Main Duties will include:

  • Providing solutions-focused HR support and advice across the business.
  • Setting the people agenda ensuring it's in line with overall company objectives.
  • Leading on all change management activity to include restructures, redundancy, and TUPE.
  • Updating HR policy and procedures in line with changes in employment law.
  • All employee relation case work, coaching, advising, and upskilling managers on performance management, disciplinary, and grievance.
  • Preparing case work for Employment Tribunals.
  • Ensuring that the HR system is continually updated and runs effectively, liaising with technical support and consultancy as appropriate.
  • Providing and leading on specific HR research and project work.

Skills Required:

  • Proven HR generalist experience ideally within a regional-based role.
  • Ability to operate at a strategic and operational level.
  • Extensive expertise in all areas of Employee Relations to include complex case work.
  • Practical understanding of consultation, restructuring, and TUPE.
  • Up-to-date Employment law knowledge.
  • Management responsibility.

This is a great opportunity to lead a highly successful HR function and contribute to overall business goals and growth. If you are looking for your next HR role and like working in a fast-paced, operational, and strategic capacity, please get in touch for more information. This is a site-based role with a hybrid model of 1 day per week from home.
